Narrative
FORT WAYNE, IN – A man died as a result of a two-vehicle wreck Saturday, September 21, in east Fort Wayne that left another man with life-threatening injuries.
Fort Wayne Police were dispatched to the scene at the corner of Maumee Avenue and Grant Avenue, near the city’s Memorial Park area, shortly after 4:15 p.m.
The events leading up to the collision have not been specified, but officers arrived to find the driver of the Hyundai outside of the vehicle and on the ground. He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, but officials confirmed his condition had upgraded to “stable.”
The other driver, who was pinned inside the Dodge, had to be extricated. Shortly after being transported to the hospital, he was pronounced deceased.
The FWPD continues to investigate, but speed is suspected to have contributed to the crash.
