Narrative

GRANT COUNTY, IN – One person lost their life Thursday morning, April 25, following a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 69 near Marion.

Indiana State Police said the fatal wreck occurred on the northbound lanes near the exit to State Road 18, at about 9:35 a.m.

Preliminary details indicate a 61-year-old was driving a 2009 Chrysler minivan northbound when, for reasons still under investigation, it struck the back of a Chevrolet Express van driven by a 49-year-old man from Indianapolis. The impact caused the Chevrolet van to then collide with the back of a semi-truck operated by a 27-year-old Georgia resident.

First responders pronounced the driver of the Chrysler deceased at the scene.

Both of the other two drivers were taken to a local hospital for injuries believed to be minor.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident, but alcohol and narcotics have been ruled out as factors. No charges have been reported at this time.
