Narrative
HAMILTON COUNTY, IN – An 85-year-old man succumbed to injuries suffered in a bicycle versus vehicle crash last Friday morning, May 3, in west Carmel.
Carmel Police Department officials said the fatal incident took place at the roundabout connecting West Main Street and Towne Road, in the city’s The Village of West Clay area, at about 10:19 a.m.
A preliminary investigation shows the victim was riding a bike southbound along Towne Road, on a multi-functional path, when he was hit by a car that was crossing West Main Street.
The cyclist, who was rushed to an area hospital, later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators did not immediately say whether the driver of the striking vehicle, an unidentified juvenile male, is expected to be charged or cited for his role in the collision.
The case is being handled by the CPD Accident Investigation Team.
